South Carolina Ranks Number 4 for Women-Owned Businesses in the Nation
Did you know Bluestein Attorneys is the only woman-owned plaintiff firm in South Carolina?
The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) is a leading advocate for women who are business owners and entrepreneurs. As the largest certifier of women-owned businesses in the U.S., the WBENC awards certifications that are among the most widely recognized and respected in the nation.
WBENC believes in diversity, promotes innovation, opens doors, and creates partnerships that fuel the economy.
An annual report commissioned by the American Express OPEN uncovers the sociodemographic characteristics that influence the overall movement of the women-owned business sector. Women-owned businesses are defined as businesses that are at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by one or more females. The report zeroes in on data at the national, state and metropolitan levels and breaks the information down by industry.
Over the past eight years, the data has shown that women-owned businesses fuel economic growth throughout the U.S. Ranked number four in the nation, South Carolina is capitalizing on this reality and leading the way as an economic growth engine, not just for women in business, but for the country as a whole.
