Traffic Pattern Changes Announced for Blythewood Area Construction Project

Source: WLTX TV The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has announced important traffic pattern changes in the Blythewood area of Richland County to support ongoing road construction. These changes, beginning Wednesday, May 7, are expected to affect both daily commuters and commercial trucking routes. Key Traffic Changes: Blythewood Road (Eastbound): Beginning May 7 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., eastbound lanes will be shifted to a combination of new and existing lanes to keep two lanes open toward I-77. This new pattern is expected to last approximately six months while crews work on the opposite side of the road. Community Road Closure: Starting Monday, May 5, Community Road (a connector to Blythewood Road) will close as part of the I-77 Exit 26 Interchange Project. The closure will last until April 2026.
